First, we recommend that you consume enough water. The typical amount is eight, 8 oz glasses of water a day, but you will want to increase your water intake based on your total activity level.
Secondly, exfoliate. In the winter, our skin holds on to dead, dry skin cells longer. And we need to slough them off. Use a Clarisonic Pro cleansing brush for daily exfoliation. For deeper exfoliation, try a Microdermabrasion or HydraFacial MD. By removing the dead debris, your products will be better absorbed and you will have more hydrated skin.
Thirdly, add a Hyaluronic acid to your skin care routine. It's water moisture, and it acts as a booster for your current moisturizer and restores the moisture barrier. Try a serum like Skin Ceuticals B-5 Hydrating Gel or Skin Medica's Hydrating Complex to enhance the your hydrating results.
Lastly, avoid hot showers! We LOVE our hot showers, especially in the winter time, but they are very drying to the skin. If lukewarm water is not enough, then try this: get the shower floor hot first, and the room warm, then turn down the hot water and step in. The warmth from the floor will warm you up! Also, drink a glass of water before you shower. This helps to keep you hydrated and lowers your blood pressure.
