"My name is Christina Downes and for the month of July I had the privilege of mentoring with Chotsie Adney, L.A., at Advanced Aesthetics AR. I was born and raised in Little Rock but I am currently a psychology major at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. Before mentoring at Advanced Aesthetics AR, I was completely unfamiliar with the field of Medical Asthetics but have always had an interest in the medical field, prompting me to apply for this mentorship.
While mentoring with Chotsie, I observed all the different procedures she provides to her clients. For example, their newest treatment called Microchanneling with PRP, is an interesting scientific concept; it uses the patient's own protein-rich plasma to heal micro-injuries to the skin resulting in an anti-aging effect. I observed a CoolSculpting procedure (non-invasive fat reduction) my first week and was able to see the serious results at the same patient's one month follow-up appointment. I saw the several different laser procedures provided at Advanced Aesthetics AR, ranging from body hair removal to redness reduction. Hydrafacials (M.D.) and Microdermabrasions have such illuminating effects and increase the overall healthiness of the skin- proven to me by Chotsie's patients who I've seen within a month's time.
Next door at Arkansas Plastic Surgery, I watched Dr. Bauer's nurse injector Linda Powell, R.N., give Botox, Dysport, and filler injections. I also got to watch Dr. Talbert's nurse practitioner Monica Fletcher, R.N.P., perform Ultherapy ('Uplifting Ultrasound') on one of her patients. I even got to go into the Operating Room to watch a breast reduction operation with Dr. Talbert. All the procedures Arkansas Plastic Surgery allowed me to observe were so interesting and I am very grateful they allowed me to do so!
In addition to the products and procedures, I have learned a great deal from my time at Advanced Aesthetics AR. So much of our confidence lies in appearing on the outside the way we feel inside, no matter what skin issue concerns us. It is amazing that the technology exists to improve appearance, making us look better and feel better. Watching Chotsie and her sister Cindy Steele (also a L.A. there), has inspired me to pursue a career in the field of Medical Aesthetics and Plastic Surgery- it fits with my own values and is extremely rewarding!
Lastly, I would especially like to thank all of the Advanced Aesthetics AR and Arkansas Plastic Surgery patients who allowed me to watch their procedures/treatments, etc. It was more beneficial than they will ever know and I greatly appreciate all of you."
